20. Triumphal Quadriga
| Out here, from the loggia you get quite a nice view of the square - take my word for it. I couldn't subject you to yet another stock photo. The quadriga (a four horse team) seen here are actually replicas, but the originals are on display inside. They were pinched from Constantinople, brought here, then Napolean took them to Paris, but later they were returned to Venice. Presumably the Venetians are awaiting the call from Istanbul to ask for them to be returned back there. |
