12. Grand Canal Ferry

If you can't afford a proper gondola ride, or you have any Scottish blood, you can still experience some of the fun with a trip across the Grand Canal on one of these traghetti (ferries). Worked by two gondoliers, they ply from one side to the other, with apparent disregard for the proximity of bridges (this pair were ferrying right by the Rialto Bridge). The price is low and fixed, the downside is that you're expected to stand.
