9. Rialto Market

| As markets go, this one takes some beating. Fruit, veg, flowers, fish, clothing, dodgy Taiwanese electronics - it's all here in spades. There's also Venice's oldest pub, dating from the mid 15th century, which might impress you if you don't live in England. The locals haven't surrendered this area to the tourists, so you can find some simple working-man cafes and bars here, mostly full of working-men, simple or otherwise. A must to visit. |
