4. Canal-side houses
| After a hard day dealing courteously and helpfully with valued tourists, this is the sort of suburb dwelling a Venetian might park his company boat outside. These houses are in the Cannaregio area (one of six 'sestieri' of Venice), the largest residential suburb. There is room here to walk alongside the canals. Nearby is the old Jewish quarter, the original 'ghetto'. |
