| Wales used to be so full of chapels and churches that almost no-one noticed their rapid decline into decay and deriliction. Today only the finest or the fortunate have survived, the rest having been given up over the years to 'light engineering' and similar manufacturing business. Seen as cheap accommodation or storage for the sort of enterprise that could afford nowhere else, they were badly maintained and thoughtlessly demolished. Thankfully those days are gone, and there is strong interest in the chapel heritage of Wales. The Zion Baptist chapel, some 130 years old, is a fine example of its type and can expect to last a little longer. |
