The ramp behind is where the bulls and their human targets end up after running through the streets. It is one of the most dangerous points of the encierro as it is a sudden narrowing of the course, and a good chance for the bulls to catch the runners up as they converge to funnel into the bullring stadium. If you reach the bullring much before the bulls, you are jeered and have all kinds of things thrown at you, if you leave it too late you may get caught in the mad crush, so timing is everything. Inside the bullring, bulls with padded horns are released into the crowd, just for a laugh. I hardly need to mention that although this is fairly early in the morning, most people participating are drunk.
