31. Plaza Santa Domingo, Pamplona

During the annual Fiesta de San Fermin in July, six bulls are released each day at 8am from an enclosure next to this square to start 'El Encierro', the famous running of the bulls. Those foolhardy enough are allowed into the square just before, to make their way along the route the bulls will take on their way to the bullring. A rocket signifies when the animals are released and according to your nerve, you can either wait for them to catch you up or leg it as quick as possible to the end. The whole thing can be over in a few minutes but it's when things go wrong, such as a bull becoming separated from the pack or bursting through the safety barriers, that it becomes dangerous. Every year there are many injuries as people are trampled and sometimes even gored - fatalities are not uncommon. Not to be recommended.
