Near to the town of Durango is the beautiful Natural Park of Urkiola, with the Duranguesado Massif rising around the birched Atxondo valley. This area of rolling hills and fairly serious peaks, teeming with wildlife and more types of hawk than you can shake a stick at, is a dream for walkers, climbers and twitchers.
