24. Basque Demonstrators


There's nothing the Basques enjoy more than a good demo, except possibly dressing up, and protest marches are a fairly common sight. This lot are not happy with proposed welfare cuts. There is a lot of noise and flag waving and it can appear intimidating to the outsider, but my experience is that unlike many other societies, they never expect foreigners to have any interest in their politics and don't make it anything other than a local issue.
